I have spent many years serving youth and families, bringing a wide range of experience from mentoring, discipleship, and outreach-based ministry. In 2007, I felt a clear calling from the Lord to step out in faith and relocate from Michigan to Washington State, where I began to work closely with high-risk youth through mentoring and relational support. In 2011, I continued the ministry journey by enrolling in a discipleship program in Oahu, Hawaii, known as Revolution Hawaii. During this time, I served individuals experiencing homelessness, with a primary focus on high-risk youth—sharing the Gospel and demonstrating the love of Jesus through daily life and intentional relationships. It was in Hawaii that I met my wife, Carolina. Together, we followed God’s lead and moved to Spokane, Washington, with a shared vision to create a space where youth and families could encounter Jesus in a real and transformative way. This vision led to the founding of Monarch, a ministry created to serve the Bride of Christ by partnering with local churches, and working alongside other ministries to strengthen the body of Christ. As well as mentoring families and walking alongside youth as they grow in faith, identity, and purpose. Monarch exists to create spaces where youth and families can encounter Jesus and be equipped to walk out their faith with purpose.

I was born in the Dominican Republic and moved to the United States at a young age. My early years in Boston, Massachusetts shaped my heart for service, and I became actively involved in summer camps, where I began working with children and youth. In 2009, I spent a summer serving at a camp on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii. It was there that I encountered the Lord in a life-changing way and surrendered my life to Jesus. Following that pivotal summer, I continued serving at the camp each year while completing my degree at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. After graduating college, I moved to Hawaii, where I worked as a preschool teacher and served in a variety of ministry roles, including teaching Sunday school and leading childcare ministries for local churches. Through my work in church-based childcare, I met my husband, Charlie. After we married, Charlie and I relocated to Spokane, Washington, where we began serving youth and families together through what would become Monarch. I now work closely with high-risk youth, combining relational mentoring with Gospel-centered care. I also integrate my passion for Christ-focused arts—such as theatre and dance—into ministry as a creative avenue for expression and healing.

Hi! I’m April. I have two sons, 22 and 25 and just gained a daughter in love and my first Granddaughter. My heart was not prepared for what a joy it is to watch your children grow into men or for gaining girls to the family! I am thankful for these blessings! I love getting to spend all the time with them I can! I have parents whom I am fortunate to get to love in their twilight years I’ve lived in Spokane my whole life besides the summer visits to Summit Valley to my Grandparents dairy farm and Moses Lake with my Aunt and Uncle. I had lots of cousins wherever I went! Adventure seems to be built in to the fabric of my being. The farm in the mountains is probably where I developed my love for the outdoors. The air was fresh, and I was free to run! As an adult who just received her first postcard from the Neptune Society it may be hard to believe, but I still love adventure and running free in the outdoors. I love hiking, kayaking, being at the beach, traveling and spontaneous day trips. I love photography, skydiving and camping. While all of that is great though, my favorite adventure is being loved by my Heavenly Father and loving Him in return. I aim to live my life and have everything flow from that place. I have so much gratitude that He has redeemed my life and made something beautiful out of the mess I had made. I love spending time in the secret place in the word and in prayer. I love prayer walking our City and I’m passionate about snatching people out of hell, loving others like Jesus would, seeing them get set free and making disciples. I love to walk beside others and encouraging them in the things of the Lord. It doesn’t matter if it’s the kids in Sunday school or the orphan, the pastor in the church or leaders in our community, the widow, someone in the store or the homeless person manifesting demons in the street. Here am I Lord, send me!
